Of the 18 Kurdish politicians and activists detained in a police operation in the southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbak\u0131r on Friday, 14 of them have been referred to court for arrest while four were released under judicial supervision, according to Turkish media reports.<\/p>\n
The 18 detainees, which included officials from the Kurdish Peoples\u2019 Democratic Party (HDP) and members of some women\u2019s rights organizations such as the Rosa Women\u2019s Association and Free Women\u2019s Movement (TJA), both unofficially linked to the HDP, face terrorism charges.<\/p>\n
On Saturday TJA activist Zelal Bilgin, Rosa Women\u2019s Association founding member Ayla Akat Ata, Yeni\u015fehir district municipality city council member Nevriye \u00c7ur and activist Nazire Tursun were released under judicial supervision.<\/p>\n
The remaining detainees including Rosa Women\u2019s Association President Adalet Kaya, founder Narin Gezg\u00f6r and association executive Fatma G\u00fcltekin, Tevgera Jin\u00ean Azad (TJA) activist G\u00fclcihan \u015eim\u015fek, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) previous term Co-chair Mehmet Arslan, HDP Central Executive Committee (MYK) member \u00d6zlem G\u00fcnd\u00fcz, HDP Yeni\u015fehir District Co-chairperson Remziye S\u0131z\u0131c\u0131, Ba\u011flar Municipal Council members H\u00fcseyin Harman and G\u00f6n\u00fcl Aslan, Diyarbak\u0131r Metropolitan Municipality council member Sevim Co\u015fkun, HDP member Mehmet Ali Alt\u0131nkaynak, Kurdish politician Celal Yolda\u015f, Diyarbak\u0131r Peace Mothers Council member Havva K\u0131ran and Veysi Kuzu were referred to court for arrest.<\/p>\n
The HDP is frequently accused by Ankara of having links to the Kurdistan Workers\u2019 Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the US. The party denies having organic links to the PKK.<\/p>\n
